One of my favorite Yankees, because of his Heart and Hustle is now gone. Like Didi, this was expected to happen and it did, as Catcher Austin Romine is leaving the Yankees for a new team, where he will become their starting catcher in the Detroit Tigers. The deal is 1 year $4.15 million.
Romine was amazing in backing up Gary Sanchez, when he was on the shelf the last two years and even had some clutch moments at the plate, walking off the Royals in May, and hitting the go-ahead blast against the Diamondbacks in July.
Behind the plate, Romine showed great chemistry with pitchers and was a great veteran presence in the clubhouse, winning the fanbase over.
I will miss Romine and I wish him the best in Detroit.
