Day 1 of NFL FA closed out with a few more signings, as Amari Cooper stayed in Dallas (5 years ,$100 million), Randal Cobb (3 years $27 million with 18.75 guaranteed) replaced DeAndre Hopkins in Houston, and LB Blake Martinez (3 years ,$30 million) as well as TE Levine Toilolo
The fact that Amari remains in Dallas isn’t surprising, as he and the Cowboys had serious intrest in each other from the beginning and found some common ground here with that contract. As for Randall Cobb, he may not be Hopkins but he’s still someone that Deshaun Watson can develop some chemistry with on offense.
As for Blake and Levine heading to Big Blue, Martinez is a tackling machine and one of the best in football at doing that on defense for his age at 25, while Toillio takes over at the Tight End position on the offensive side for Richard Ellison, who retired earlier this offseason. The Giants are doing an amazing job of using their cap space wisely, as it seems Joe Judge has gotten through to GM Dave Gettelman so far this offseason.
