SERIES RECAP: ROARED OUT! TIGERS POUND LIFELESS YANKS

All I can say is, now where are turning into the Mets, as injuries have continued to pile up on the Yankees, and it didn't change in this series, as they were embarrassingly defeated by the Detroit Tigers in 2 of the 3 games in this series. So without further ado, let's dive into how the Yankees fell to 2-4 on the season.

GAME 1: YANKEES 3 TIGERS 1.

The Yankees were intending to use Domingo German as their "Opener". They didn't need too.

Domingo German pitched 5 innings of 1 run ball ( O earned, as the lone run came on a Gary Sanchez throwing error in the 4th), and the Yankees backed him up with HRs by Sanchez ( who gave them a 1-0 lead in the second), and Brett Gardner, who's HR was the big blow of the game. With the Yankees leading 2-1( After both teams traded run-scoring errors), Gardy restored the Yankees 2 run lead with a solo shot in the 6th, as the Yankees bullpen pitched 4 scoreless innings (Green, Ottavino, Chapman) to secure the 3-1 victory.

GAME 2: TIGERS 3. YANKEES 1.

Jordan Zimmerman was brilliant going 6.2 innings of 1 run ball ( 0 earned, as the Yankees lone run came on a sac fly by Clint Frazier in the 2nd), outdueling Masahiro Tanaka ( who went 6.2 innings of 1 run ball) as the Tigers evened the series with a 3-1 win.

Detroit rallied after being down 1-0, as Jordan Hicks doubled home Nicolas Candelero in the 6th before the Tigers tagged Chapman in the 9th for two runs ( As Doug Peterson, and Jordy Mercer both notched 1 out RBIs) to take a 3-1 lead.

That lead was never relinquished, as Tigers closer ( And ex Yankee) Shane Green retired the Yankees in order to preserve the 3-1 win for Detroit.

GAME 3: TIGERS 2 YANKEES 1.

The Yankees whiffed a franchise record 18 times in a 2-1 loss. Aaron Judge had an RBI single in the second, but that was it, as Mathew Boys struck out a career-high 13 batters in 7 innings of 1 run ball, before Gordon Beckham gave Detroit the lead in the 8th with a solo shot to right off Chad Green.

Shane Green locked down the save, to end the Yankees off to Baltimore with a 2-4 record.

LEFTOVERS:

Jonathan Losiga was great for the Yankees, as he pitched four scoreless innings for the Bombers in his first start of the season.

Another injury occurred, as Troy Tulowitzki went on the 10 day IL, after leaving Game 3 with a left calf strain.

Aaron Judge made two web gems this series!

In game 1, he robbed a base hit from Niko Goodrum, with runners on first and second, with 0 outs in the 8th. That turned the tide, as Adam Ottavino escaped that inning unharmed preserving the Yankees 3-1 lead.

In the series finale, Judge robbed a potential HR away from Josh Harrison, with a leaping catch at the right-field wall to keep the game scoreless in the 3rd.

UP NEXT:

The Yankees head to Baltimore to begin a six-game road trip, as they will face the O's (4-2), and then the Houston Astros ( 2-5).

James Paxton will get the ball for the Yankees on Thursday, while Yankee killer Alex Cobb. takes the ball for the O's.
