This was a game to forget for the Mets, as Noah Syndergaard allowed 2 runs late in another great start and Brad Bach allows two more while the Mets bats went silent in a stunning 4-1 loss to the lowly Royals on Friday (8/16) at Kauffman Stadium In KC. The Mets remain 2 games out of the NL Wild Card with this loss.
The Mets offense were only able to muster one run off Royals Starter Mike Montgomery and the Toyals Bullpen, as Michael Conforto singled home JD Davis in the 3rd to give the Mets a 1-0 lead before everything went downhill.
Noah Syndergaard was cruising through the first 4 innings before Meibrys Valarea and Nicky Lopez doubled home runs in the 5th to give the Royals a 2-1 lead.
In the 8th, Bach came in to relive “Thor” and couldn’t find his command allowed 2 runs to give the Royals a 4-1 lead as they would win by that score.
MVP: Mike Montgomery
THOUGHTS:
This is one you would like to flush down the toilet and look ahead to the next one. It was ugly but there are still two more games left in this series. Just go out there and win it!
GRAND SLAM WAVED OFF:
Ryan ‘O Hearn appeared to have a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 8th off Edwin Diaz but it was waved off after further review as the umpires ruled it had gone foul. That Grand Slam would’ve given the Royals an 8-1 lead, but it wasn’t and Diaz proceeded to strike out O Hearn before inducing a double-play ball to end the inning and keep the Mets in it.

It was a game to forget. It’s disappointing that we lost to the Royals but at least we have two more games left in this series.
Just go out there and take it! Let’s go Mets!!
