When they say “It’s hard being a New York Knicks fan nowadays “ it really is!
All of that hype of getting, KD, Kyrie and Zion all went out the window once the Knicks didn’t get either of them and as frustrating as this was for me personally (Especially since KD and Kyrie they went to Brooklyn).
But after sitting down to ponder what just happened and how to even respond to how the Knicks tried to salvage the Summer, It hit me.
The Knicks have finally been forced into a full rebuild. All of their acquisitions besides being all Power Forwards, in Julias Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Reggie Bollock, Wayne Ellington, Elford Payton, and Marcus Morris, have two year deals, except Morris who has a one year deal. The reason for that is so the Knicks can have enough cap space to go after Giannis Atenakumpo , Kwahi Lenord and others in 2021 Free Agency.
Some of these players, like Bullock, Ellington and Payton will most likely get traded for draft assets , that can help the Knicks continue to build off this small young foundation they have led by this years first round pick in RJ Barret along with Kevin Knox, Mitchel Robinson Alonzo Trier, and if he turns out to be a steal, second round pick Izzy Brazdeikis.
Look Knicks nation, I know we are all upset and impatient because a championship hasn’t been brought home in 46 years. I know it’s going to take a long time and if the Knicks do this right in my opinion, it will take 5-7 years to be good again and their city back that has been rightfully taken over by the Nets. The manegment unfortunately have failed all of NY!!!
So I ask you Knicks nation, if we could collectively muster up some more patients here, because when it all finally comes together, not only will we have our city back, but also our dignity back.
You know what they say, “Evrey Dog has its day”. That day will be here sooner then you think.
Let’s go Knicks!
PREDICTION: The Knicks will improve
from their 17-65 campaign last year, and go 35-47 this year in my opinion. No playoffs though and no top draft pick. Middle of the pack.
COMMENTS:
MOSHE HALABI:
Nice article Marvin, , but I actually think that they had a successful offseason. The reason why it doesn’t seem like that because we had bigger expectations that were on the verge of happening.
We went from Noah Vonleh as our starting power forward, to julias randle.
We went from Damian Dotson as shooting guard, to RJ Barrett .
We have nice shooters, like Morris , Ellington and Bullock.
This is good because we struggled in shooting efficiency last season.
