I’ll be honest, I know we were in rebuild mode already but I didn’t know what to expect from the New York Rangers
coming into the offseason. Yes we had a good farm system but our top guys were still a ways away from touching the Broadway ice.
Then something magical happened, we moved up four spots in the lottery and got the second pick in the NHL Draft which got us superstar Kappo Kakko!!! I was happy, especially since we also acquired a young star defensemen in Jacob Trouba from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Neil Pinok and a future second round pick.
I was happy, I was ready for the season to start, not expecting a playoff berth, but expecting a development season in year 3 of our 5 year rebuild plan.
Then, the top FA on the market, a guy who i really wanted to come here but didn’t think so because of what his old team Columbus was offering (8 Years $96 million) as well as other clubs right behind them in that range. Also, I didn’t think he would want to come to a rebuild situation but Artemi Panarin did for a 7 years , 81.5 million!
He’s a great fit for our team that is young just like most of our guys and hungry to develop and win as well.
This move has shot up the Rangers in the 2019-20 season rankings in many experts eyes, as many have said we can possibly be a playoff team this upcoming season!
That I’ll definitely take considering our management’s mode right now.
This has brought excitement and hope back to Rangers Nation and I can’t wait to see what this upcoming season brings as we dive into year 3 of our 5 year plan which has taken a boost due to our flurry of offseason moves.
Let’s go Rangers!!!
PREDICTION: 40- 42-4, 84 points. Wild Card Berth?
We had 32 wins last year and I expect us to be better then that. With luck I say we get a WC berth this year. This team can do better then what I predicted. But I don’t want to get my hopes up.
Nevertheless, I can’t wait for the season to start even though it’s most likely not a Cup Contention year, I still can’t wait to see our youngsters go at it.
Let’s go Rangers!!!
