This past weekend, we saw the Nets big three continue to take steps towards “Take-off mode”, the Rangers went to Pittsburgh, and the Islanders continued their winning ways against New Jersey. Let’s get into it!
NETS: 10-8( 3-2 since Harden debut)
In their rematch with the Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving poured in 38 points, but it went to waste, as the Nets defense did them in again in 125-113 loss in Cleveland. But last night against a Miami Heat team without Jimmy Butler, and Tyler Herro, they squeaked out a 128-124 win, behind Kevin Durant’s 32, James Harden’s 11 assists, and Kyrie Irving’s 29 points, with an abundance of them coming in the fourth quarter.
The common theme in all of these games has been the defense has struggled, and that needs to improve if this team will reach their level of expectations, which is a championship.
KNICKS 8-9:
Tom Thibeadou has this team playing hard, as they rebounded from a five game skid(Vs Thunder, Nuggets, Hornets, Nets, Cavs), with a three game winning streak( vs Celtics, Magic, and a 119-104 win in Golden State) to even their record at 8-8. Yes, although they lost 103-94 in Sacramento to the Kings on Friday, in a frustrating affair for any, this team seems to have taken a leap forward from a team in the basement, to a team hovering around the .500 mark.
ISLANDERS: 3-1
There’s a reason why I have this team at #3 in my power rankings, as they took care of a McKenzie Blackwood-less Devils team 4-1 on Thursday in Long Island.
