A LOT HAS HAPPENED IN NY SPORTS LATLEY, SO LET’S GET INTO IT!
KNICKS: 17-36
They made some moves that hav effected the organization, but I prefer to save that for a second article. Meanwhile on the basketball court, the Knicks have ripped off four straight wins over the Pacers(92-85), lowly Cavs (139-134 in OT, after they trailed by 10 with 5 minutes remaining in regulation), the Magic (105-103 at home),and Pistons (95-92). Elfried Payton, has been amazing these past few games leading the Knicks charge along with Julias Randle, who’s clutch buckets have sent the Knicks over the top.
NETS: 23-28
The Nets have went through more adversity once again. They looked like they were finally coming together after wins over the Pistons(127-115) and Bulls (133-118) at home, with the win over Chicago being a game where Kyrie had the crowd chanting his name, when he put up 54 points and hit 7 three pointers.
But the very next night(2/1), in Washington against the feisty Wizards, Kyrie was having a 37 point night and leading a late Nets charge, before going down on his ankle, which has turned into a right knee sprain that will keep him out at least a week. The Nets would lose that game (!13-107), before going home for two big wins over the lowly Suns(119-97) and Warriors (129-88), with the GSW game being the biggest winning Barclays Center history. Despite the 119-118 loss in Toronto last night, Caris Levert has been leading this Kyrie-less Nets team, and he did it again, giving the Nets a shot late in the game, after trailing by 15 in the 3rd quarter.
RANGERS: 26-22-4
Playoffs doesn’t seem to be in the cards for these Rangers, but they are still exciting to watch. The second half started off great, as the Rangers netted back to back wins over the lowly red Wings (4-2 and 1-0), with Igor Sheshterkin and Henrik Lunquist, with the king getting a 33 save shutout.
A lackluster 5-3. Home loss to the Dallas Stars, was followed with another Igor win over a high-flying Maple Leafs offense at 5-3 at MSG. But. The inconsistency continued on Friday night (2/7), the inconsistency continued, as they fell to the playoff-hopeful Buffalo Sabers 3-2 at the Garden.
In other news, Igor is 4-1 so far in his NHL career , and will start tonight against the lowly LA Kings at MSG.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are working on an extension with veteran Chris Kreider.
ISLANDERS: 31-16-6
A mediocre 4-4-2 stretch has dropped the Isles to 4th in the Metro division and into the Wild Card race. Don’t think fans should be worried though, as good teams go through stretches like this over the course of a long season.
