TAMPA BAY’D! YANKEES LOSE LEAD, LOSE SERIES TO RAYS.

Back to back homers by Mike Brosseau and Brandon Lowe, and a walk-off single by Micheal Perez propelled the Rays to a late 4-3 victory over the Yankees on Sunday at the Trop, that clinched the series victory for Tampa Bay.

The Yankees bats weren’t sharp on Sunday, yet found themselves leading 3-0 headed to the bottom of the 7th, behind an RBI HBP by Mike Ford in the 3rd, 2 runs on an error, and 11 strikeouts by James Paxton through 6.2 innings. However, a2run HR by Mike Brosseau and a blast by Brandon Lowe, the very next batter tied the game at 3. In the 8th, Jonathan Holder, worked in and out of trouble inducing an inning-ending double play ball with the bases loaded, to keep the game even headed into the 9th. The bottom half of the 9th saw the Rays put two men on with one out, but a great defensive play by Gleyber Torres to get the lead runner kept it temporarily tied, before a passed ball on Gary Sanchez, and a a drop-shot single by Micheal Perez sealed the deal for Tampa Bay.

SERIES MVP: The Rays pitching for keeping the Yankees bats at bay throughout the series.

INJURY REPORT:

Giancarlo Stanton was placed on the 10 Day IL and will miss 3-4 weeks with a grade 1 calf strain.

UP NEXT: The Yankees have lost 5 of their last 7, are now 10-6 on the season, and their AL East over the 8-8 Rays has dropped to two games, with this 3-1 series loss. On Tuesday, the Yankees will look to rebound, when they clash with the NL East leading Braves (11-7) at Yankee Stadium. It will be Jordan Montgomery against Braves rookie Touki Toussaint, with first pitch set for 7:05PM.
