Aaron Judge demolished his 100th career HR and Masahiro Tanaka outmatched fellow countryman Yusei Kuckuchi as the Yankees steamrolled past the Seattle Mariners 7-0 on Tuesday night (8/27). The win lowers the Yankees magic number to clinch the AL East to 19.
The Yankees wasted no time helping Masa out as in an all-Japan battle, every run would be critical. Aaron Judge got the Yankees started in historic fashion as his 2run HR 2 batters into the game was his 100th career HR that went 462FT and gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead.
In the 3rd, Brett Gardner socked a 3run shot to right to extend the Yankees lead to 5-0. An Austin Romine RBI groundout in the 5th and a Romine RBI Walk in the 9th gave the Yankees a 7 spot on the 9th which was more then enough for Masahiro Tanaka.
You could tell right away that Masa was locked in, as he was making quick work of the Mariners hitters, making them look overmatched doing it and flirted with a no-hitter through 4. Throughout his outing, Tanaka did a great job of sticking to his strengths and keeping the ball on the ground as through his 7scoreless inning ,106 pitch, 3hit, 7K outing, only 7 balls left the infield.
As he has done throughout his career so far, when he really needs too he come up clutch and with all of Japan watching, he came up clutch again.
After Masa departed, Luis Cessa came in and finished off the shutout by going 2 scoreless innings and sealing a 7-0 Yankees victory.
MVP: Masahiro Tanaka

Outside of Masa and Judge, great job out of Gardy with that HR as well as Gio Urshela and DJ LeMahieu for getting on base a lot in this game as well.
Tip of the cap to Romine for his 2RBI game as well as Cessa for those 2 scoreless innings at the end.

Probably one of my favorite games of the year. Literally the entire team played great. Tanaka with his 7 shutout innings and Cessa with the last 2on the pitching side.
As for hitting, Judge hitting his 100th homer was very exiting. It’s great to see him go back to his normal self. Gardy also was long due for a homer and hit one out of there. Overall amazing performance by the entire team.
Nice win! Now let’s sweep em on Wednesday! Let’s go Yankees!
