Seth Andreson continued to make the most of his rookie season and Brett Anderson shut the Yankees offense down as the A’s notched improved to 4-0 against the Yankees this season with an 8-2 victory on Friday (8/30) in the Bronx.
CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and didn’t last long as he gave up a solo HR to Juriackson Profar in the 2nd that gave Oakland a 1-0 lead and left the game with a knee injury in the 3rd.
The Yankees bats would try and pick CC up against Brett Anderson as they loaded the bases with nobody out in the 3rd before Didi Gregorious grounded into a double play that resulted in a run scoring and tied the game at 1.
In the 4th, it happened again as Mike Tauchman was the double play victim and even though that resulted in a run, it would come back to haunt the Yankees later. These double plays would be the reason why Brown would pitch so well as he went 6 innings of 2 run ball.
After Luis Cessa pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief of Sabathia, Tommy Kahlene came in for the 6th and ran Into trouble as an RBI double by A’s rookie Seth Brown and a 2run double by Juriackson Profar gave Oakland a 4-2 lead. The A’s would pour it on in the 7th, as Mark Cahana tripled home Matt Chapman before a Seth Brown RBI single made it 6-2 A’s.
Oakland would keep it going in the 9th, as they would add two more runs on a Marcus Semien solo shot and a Brown RBI single that made the final score 8-2 A’s.
