The stands were packed to the gills in the Sephardic Community Center, hoping for a thrilling clash in a “Battle of the Brooklynites”, between the YDE Thunder and the Shaare Torah Stars JV Basketball teams. A battle is what they got, with the YDE Thunder coming out as winners for the 4th time in less than a week, as the JV team defeated there rivals 55-49.
With the first quarter mostly being a “Feel for it ” frame, YDE took a 6-4 lead into the second quarter, where the game picked up, as both teams remained neck and neck throughout the period, as the teams went into their respective locker rooms deadlocked at 22 points apiece paving the road for a thrilling second half.
With the stands packed, the Thunder came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, as they went on an 11-3 run to take a 36-25 lead after 3, with Thunder Nation rocking the joint.
