THE GREAT EIGHT! YANKEES SWEEP O’S FOR 8TH STRAIGHT ‘W!

Gio Urshela And Kyle Higashioka each went deep twice leading another Yankees HR party and James Paxton went 6.2 innings of one-run ball as the Yankees completed a 3 game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles 14-2 on Wednesday night (8/7) at Camden Yards. The win came in the midst of yet another record-setting night at Camden Yards and is also the Yankees 8th straight win, 9th in their last 10 games and second sweep in a row.

After a strong start to the game, Orioles starter John Means faltered as the Yankees bats got to him in the 4th, as Camron May in blooped an RBI single that plated Gio Urshela before Kyle Higashioka went deep for a 3run HR that gave the Yankees a 4-0 lead. The Yankees would continue to get to Means in the 5th, as they would respond to a Trey Mancini HR in the 4th with an Urshela 2 run blast in the 5th that put the Bombers up 6-1. That blast was the 50th blast of the season for the Bombers against the O’s that broke a record for the most HRs in a single season against a single opponent in MLB history.

The Yankees would pour it on In the 6th, as DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge racked up RBI singles before Gio Urshela did it again as he went deep for a 2run HR that gave the Yankees a commanding 10-1 lead. The Bombers would cap off a “Break the game open” Inning when Brett Gardner beat out a double-play ball that scored Didi Gregorious and put the Yankees up 11-1 when the dust finally settled.

In the 9th, Camron Maybin joined the HR party with a solo shot, before Kyle Higashioka went deep for his second HR of the game, as his 2run shot put the Yankees up 14-1 a they would coast to a 14-2 victory, their 8th straight win to complete the series sweep of the O’s.

8 WINS IN A ROW NOW! LETS KEEP IT GOING IN TORONTO!!

STATS TO KNOW:

The Yankees have 95 runs at Camden Yards vs. the Orioles. The Orioles have 88 hits at Camden Yards vs. the Yankees.

The Yankees’ 43 homers at Camden Yards this season is more than the Giants (39) or Tigers (39) have in their home ballparks.

Seventeen different Yankees have homered against the Orioles this season. Fourteen MLB teams—including the Orioles—haven’t had 17 different players homer this season, period.

Eleven different Yankees have multi-homer games against the Orioles (10 at Camden yards an MLB Record) this season, which is, you guessed it, an MLB record.

The Yankees magic number to clinch the AL East is down to 38. The number goes down with a Yankees win or a Rays loss. Once that number reaches 0, it will men the Yankees would’ve won the division for the first time since 2012.

FAN OPINIONS:

ELI RUBEN:

Great win! This series gave me a lot of confidence in our offense and our starting pitching! Paxton was great tonight and I really love our offense who can take advantage of bad pitching and make it big on the scoreboard and rain down HRs!!

Onto Toronto! Let’s keep the good vibes rolling!!!

UP NEXT:

The Yankees (75-39) will head to Toronto for a 4 game series beginning on the Blue Jays (40-77). Domingo German will go for the Yankees against Thomas Pannone of the Jays who have won 7 out of their last 10 games.

Game time is 7:05 PM.
