A lot has happened lately in the sports world, so let’s get into it!
KNICKS:4-19
The losses keep on coming. 126-98 to the Toronto Raptors, 101-95 to the 76ers (Where the Knicks blew a double-digit lead), 103-101 to the rival Nets , 113-104 to the Celtics ( Where another double-digit lead was blown), 129-92 to the Denver Nuggets and then in their first game since a major shake up within the organization( That i will put in a separate article), the Knicks drop their 9th straight, falling 104-103 to the Indiana Pacers at MSG when Julias Randle missed a game -tying FG withe .1 seconds left dooming the Knicks.
NETS 13-10:
Kyrie and Caris Levert May be out, but guys like Garret Temple, Spencer Dinwidee , Jarret Allen and Joe Harris are stepping up in big ways.
After the Cavs win the Nets had two emotional games against the feisty Celtics
In which they split them. They lost the 1st one 121-112, before rallying behind Dinwidee for a 112-107 win at Barclays Center. After that came a devastating home loss to the red-hot Miami Heat, in where the Nets blew a late 106-99 lead, and turned it into a 109-106 loss.
But since that tough one on 12/1, the Nets have rattled off three straight wins over the Hawks (130-118), the Hornets (111-104) and the Nuggets (105-102) in a game where Spencer hit the game winning shot to propel the Nets to 13-10.
Brooklyn, is now 9-8 without Kyrie Irving on the floor.
RANGERS: 15-11-3
From a Rangers fan perspective, the inconsistency continues here. A 3-2 win over the Hurricanes at home, gives us our 3rd straight win and hope that we can make the playoffs once again. But a tough 3-2 OT loss to the Bruins in Boston, deflates us as we blow a 2-0 lead in that one at TD Garden. Fortunately, things have looked up since then because we routed the Devils 4-0 in a rivalry game in NJ, and even though we lost 4-1 to the Vegas Golden Knights at MSG on 12/2, a revenge 5-0 win at Vegas on 12/8 felt really sweet.
In between those games, were two thrillers in which we split. The first was a 3-2 win in Columbus, over the Blue Jackets in Artemi Pannarin’s homecoming, with the second being a tough 2-1 loss to the Canadiens.
Throughout this stretch, Alexander Gegoriev has been phenomenal! So amazing, that he has drawn interest from the top-heavy Toront Maple Leafs, as they want some goaltending depth despite having a good goaltender in Fredrick Andreson.
Alexander’s best game came in that Jackets game where he made 45 saves.
Also chipping in, have been guys like Panarin, Mike Zibanejad, Jesper Fast , Brendan Smith, Jacob Trouba and Adam Fox.
ISLANDERS: 20-7-2
These Isles keep fighting in that Metropolitan division. They have went 4-3 in their last 7 games, with the wins coming against the feisty Blue Jackets (2-0), the lowly Red Wings (4-1), the solid Vegas Golden Knights (3-2 in OT) and the strong Tampa Bay Lightning (5-1). As for the losses, they have come against the lowly Kings(4-1), the lowly Canadians (4-2) and the mediocre Dallas Stars (3-1).
Mathew Barzel, Jordan Eberlee and goalie Thomas Greiss.
GIANTS: 2-11
A 31-13 loss, to the Packers at a snowy MetLife Stadium, put Big Blue at 2-10. But then we got the news, that Eli Manning was once again the starter and Big Blue was now watchable again. Eli returned on “Monday Night Football” in Philadelphia on 12/9, against a 5-7 Eagles team, that was battling for the NFC East with the Cowboys. Eli started off great, as he threw for two touchdowns (Both to Darius Slayton), to give the Giants a 17-3 halftime lead.
But the Eagles would rally, as Carson Wentz led big drives that resulted in Boston Scott and Zach Ertz for touchdowns, to force Overtime. In overtime, the Eagles won the toss and drove down the field for a game-winning TD to Ertz that handed the Giants their 9th straight loss and drop them to 2-11.
JETS: 5-8
Goodbye playoff hopes! A 22-6 loss to the previously winless Bengals will do that to you. But congratulations on your 22-21 revenge win over the Dolphins in a game where Sam Ficken hit the game -winning FG.
