UPSET CITY BABY!!!!!! TENNIS WORLD SHOCKED IN SWEET 16!

Round 4 isn’t even over yet and I am already writing because I can’t believe the magnitude of all these upsets!!!!!

Let’s take a deep dive into the victims.

AUSTRALIAN BARTY STUNS NO 30 SEED SHARAPOVA

This was a battle of Cinderella story’s, as Sharapova was favored here.

Early on, it seemed like It would be as expected, as Maria took the 1st set 6-4.

But Barty used the home crowd to her advantage and completely turned this match around, wining the next 2 sets 6-1,6-2 to send the woman’s 30 seed home.

The win puts Barty into her first ever Quarter final, where she will face number 8 seed Petrick Kvitova in what should be an amazing match!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANCIS! TIAFOE TAKES DOWN DIMITROV!

Yes! We still have an American in the men’s draw, as Francis Tiafoe upped the ante, after his upset of Kevin Andreson earlier in the tournament, Tiafoe celebrated his 21st birthday by taking down the 20th seed Gregor Dimitrov in 4 sets, 7-5, 7-6, 6-7, 7-5! This was as tight as the score showed, as Tiafoe kept grinding through this one.

Francis will need to really up his game when he faces the superstar and number 2 seed Rafael Nadal in the elite eight.

NO 6 SEED CILIC GOES DOWN

If anyone has been grinding through this Australian Open, it’s the 22 seed Roberto Bautista- Agut, who won his 3rd 5 setter of the tournament, topping last years finalist Marian Cilic, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Marian did an amazing job hanging in there, but Roberto prevailed once again, as he heads to the elite eight having spent 14:03 minutes on court.

NO 5 SEED STEPHENS OUSTED

Americans are 2-2 so far in round 4 as Solone Stephens lost in 3 sets to Aneista Pavlyuchenkova 6-7, 6-3, 6-3.

Stephens was crushing early up 4-1, 0-40. But Aneitsa came back to force a tiebreak, where she lost 8-6.

In the second set, Stephens was out in front again up a break at 3-2. But Pavlyuchenkova rallied, for 4 straight games, and took the second set 6-3, to force a decider.

In the 3rd set, the two Women went back and forth, before Anesita went on a four game rampage, which was the difference in a 6-3, winner take all set victory. The win means Pavlyuchenkova will face American Daniel Collins in a battle of Cinderella story’s !

NO 2 SEED KERBER GOES DOWN

This is the biggest upset on the women’s side so far, as Anguleine Kerber got bagled, than lost the second set 6-2, to American Daniel Collins. This is a huge win for Collins, as she will head to her first ever Quarterfinal!

2 TIME DEFENDING CHAMP FEDERER GOES DOWN!

The GOAT has been dethroned. Roger Feder lost to 20 -year old Stephan Tistipas from Greece in 4 epic sets, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5, 7-6.

Roger came out aggressive early, as he was holding serve more quickly than Tistipas. However, no player was able to break the other ones serve , as the first set went to a tiebreak.

In the tiebreaker, Federer got down 2-0, 3-2, 7-6, 9-8, and 11-10, before winning 3 straight points to take the tiebreaker, 13-11 and win the 1st set!

However, Tispitas composed himself and outplayed Roger in the second set, as the match went into another tiebreak.

This one was shorter though, as Tispitas led 3-0, and blew before winning 4 straight points to take the tiebreak 7-3 and level this match at a set apiece.

Stephen kept his foot on the gas, as he broke Federer for the 1st break of the match , to win the third set 7-5.

In the 4th, the players just continued to hold, as the match saw its 3rd tiebreak, in which Tispitas prevailed 7-5, to win the match and shock the tennis world.

It will be Tispitas against Roberto Bautista-Agut in the Elite Eight.

Stephen will be the favorite, as Roberto will have a fatigue disadvantage.
