It all comes down to this! The last weekend of the US Open. Let’s get into the matches.
MENS SEMIFINALS:
DIMITROV VS MEDVEDEV:
Grigor has been a Cinderella feel-good story at the Open so far. Most notable, was his quarterfinal upset victory over Rodger Federer 3-6,6-4,3-6,6-4,6-2.
As for Danil, the 5 seed is on a Cinderella run at the Open, as the 23 year old is in the semifinals after defeating Stan Wawrinka 7-6,6-3,3-6,6-1.
PREDICTION: MEDVEDEV IN 5:
I think Danil has been too good this tournament to lose now. Grigor had a great run, but I say it still is an amazing match one that goes down to the wire! But in the end, i say Medvedev wins and is headed to the finals.
NADAL VS BERENTINI:
Rafa booked his ticket to the quarterfinals by defeating NO 20 seed Diego Schwartzman in straight sets 6-4, 7-5, 6-2.
As for Mateo, he won a 5 set thriller against Monflis in the elite 8 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6. The 5th set was especially thrilling, as Mateo was up 5-3 and had match point on his racket before double faulting.
Then, after Monflis broke by winning a 24 shot rally and then winning the point after to cut his deficit down to 5-4, both players hold meaning Gael was serving to stay in the match again down 6-5. This game showed the resiliency of the 13 seed as he saved two match points to send the match to a winner take all tiebreaker. But unfortunately for Gael, he double faulted 5 times in the last 15 minutes of the match as the 24th seeded Mateo converted in his 5th match point to put himself in the final 4.
PREDICTION: Rafa in 3:
Nadal is just too much for Mateo to handle in my opinion and I think that Mateo would’ve ran out of gas after that 5 set thriller against Monflis.
WOMENS FINAL:
It’s Serena Williams, who will be going for her 24th grand slam title against Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu.
PREDICTION: Serena in straight sets:
I think this is her time to get back on the winning track. Bianca will make it tough but I think Williams has got this! Go get em Serena
