As we head into this upcoming weekend, we saw fans back in the seats for the first time since the pandemic, and while that was amazing, we’re still not done, as Rangers fans return to the Garden tonight against the Bruins. But, until that arrives, let’s take a look at what happened this week so far, with the reenergized throats, and how that effected the results.
KNICKS: 16-17
They may have lost on Tuesday night, but their were many moral victories, in that 114-106 loss to the red-hot Steph Curry (37 points), and the Golden State Warriors. Julius Randle becoming an all-star, and fans being back, was fine with me, especially knowing who this team played next. That would be the lowly Sacramento Kings, who the Knicks trounced 140-121, to once again move to within one game of .500, with a chance to climb into the fifth spot in East, if they can take down the mediocre Indiana Pacers(15-15), at home on Saturday, before a game in Detroit with the nine win Pistons, on Sunday.
NETS:22-12
The streak has reached eight straight, with James Harden continuing to “ball -out”, and Kyrie Irving chipping in as well, with the Nets recording impressive wins over the Kings(127-118) on Tuesday, and the Orlando Magic(129-92) at home on Thursday. Brooklyn will look to make it nine straight, when they host Luka Donic, and the Dallas Mavricks, on Saturday.
RANGERS: 5-8-3
The team put forth a spirited effort, in their 4-3 loss to the Flyers on Wednesday but no time to dwell that, because it’s “Welcome Back Fans Night”, against the first-place Boston Bruins, with the two teams also meeting again on Sunday as well.
ISLANDERS: 10-6-3
The 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabers was nice, but for those of you asking whether the Islanders have hit their stride yet, may want to check out Thursday’s game, where they scored five goals in the third period, en route to a 7-2 win over the Bruins; improving to 3-0 against them this season, which is simply remarkable.
