It was an action packed last week of September, so let’s get into it!!
Yankees:
The New York Yankees went 1 for 1, in their chance to clinch home field advantage for the Wild Card game , as they defeated the Boston Red Sox 11-6, on Friday (9/28) at Fenway Park.
The Yankees raced out to an 8-0 lead, keyed by Gary Sanchez ( Solo shot in the 2nd) and Aaron Hicks ( 3 run HR in the 4th to cap off a 4 run frame).
JA Happ started for the Yankees, and was in control, until he gave up a grand slam to Steve Pearce in the 6th.
Luke Voit would continue his hot streak , and Aaron Judge would hit his first HR off the DL, propelling the Yankees, and making those HRs be enough, to hold off , a late Red Sox rally .
With the win, the Yankees clinched home field for the Wild Card game , and with the 4Hrs , tied a record for most HRs in a single season by a team with 264!
On Saturday, the Yankees made history, as Gleyber Torres, hit the record breaking Hr, which was followed by a Giancarlo Stanton HR, en rout to an 8-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox , for the Yankees 100th win of the season.
On Sunday , the Yankees fell 10-2, to the Bosox , as they failed to complete the sweep.
Luke Voit , was the only bright spot in the Yankees loss with a 2 run HR.
Up next : Wednesday October 3rd, the AL Wild Card against the Oakland Athletics.
Luis Severino vs Liam Hendricks.
NFL:
Titans stun Eagles 26-23 on overtime.
Raiders stun Browns 45-42 in overtime.
Fiitzmagic comes down to earth in 45-10 loss to Bears .
Patrick does it again, as Chiefs rally last Broncos 27-23.
Rams remain undefeated, defeat Vikes 38-31.
Jags roll past Jets 31-12.
MVP: Patrick Mahomes.
The New York Giants defense could only hold the Saints high flying offense , for so long, as Big Blue fell 33-18, to Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints .
The Giants started the game great, with Eli Manning driving his team down the field , and finding Sterling Sheppard for an early 7-0 Giants lead!
After that, the Giants defense went to work, and despite giving up 4 FGs, and being down 12-7 at halftime, the Giants had the momentum.
But like I said , the Giants defense could only hold off the Saints for so long , as Alvin Kamrea had 3 second half TDS, and the Saints pulled away from the Giants sluggish offense, with a 33-18 victory.
The win improves the Saints to 3-1, while Big Blue drops to 1-3, and will look to rebound next week on North Carolina, against the Carolina Panthers (2-1)
