WORLD CUP 2018: MADNESS CONTINUES!

This year's World Cup continues to produce madness, as The quarterfinals,did not stop the madness train. Here is what went down. 

FRANCE VS URUGUAY The Uruguay defense , wasn’t enough in this one , as France was able to pull through, as 2 late goals in each half , by Vardan and Greizman propelled France , as their goalkeeper Lloris kept the Uruguay offense off the charts throughout the match , dashing any hopes of some late Cavini magic .

BRAZIL VS BELGIUM This match had an auspicious start to it as Belgium netted the first goal of the game on an own goal by Brazil , as Fernandinho deflected one into his own net in minute number 13 to give Belgium a 1-0 lead. Belgium would score again in the 31st minute as De Bruyne would somehow , someway , sock one into the net to make it 2-0 Belgium. Both teams had a lot of opportunities in the first half , as both goalies were amazing, but at halftime ,it was 2-0 Belgium. The second half was more of the same , but Brazil couldn’t score , then they finally did , as Augustine would deflect one into the net in the 76th minute to give Brazil life at 2-1. Neymar for Brazil , led the final attack with some “Just missed opportunity’s, “ but couldn’t net one home and neither coup the rest of his team , as the Belgium goalie (Courtios) made a huge difference, and Belgium hung on for the upset 2-1, and will face France in the semifinals.

SWEDEN VS ENGLAND Two Headers decided this one , as goals by Maguire ( 30th minute) , and Dele(59th minute ) , as well as some great goalkeeping by Pickford propelled England their first World Cup semifinals in almost 3 decades !

RUSSIA VS CROATIA The hometown team Russia, was hoping to continue their Cinderella story against an undefeated Croatia team . It didn’t start well for the hosts ,as Cheryshev would strike first for Croatia in the 31st minute , only for Kramaric to tie it up 8 minutes later . While both teams had a lot of chances , they couldn’t put the ball in.the net , and we headed for overtime. Just when it looked like Croatia would pull off this win , (as Vida’s goal in the 101st minute gave Croatia the 2-1 ),lead, Russia would rally as Fernandez would put one home with 5 minutes to go in the extra frame, and we are tied at 2! With that , the game went to a shootout. Every soccer player dreams of being the hero got their team , and that dream came true today for Rakitic as he sent one home in the bottom the 5th to give Croatia a 4-3 win on penalties, their second straight shootout win, and a spot in the semifinals against England.

Predictions BELGIUM VS FRANCE : France finds a way into the finals , their offense comes through . ENGLAND VS CROATIA: The Cinderella spoilers find a way again and keep this perfect World Cup alive ! Note : Didn’t fair well in my predictions last time .
