YOU’VE JUST BEEN CERVED! FRANSISCO’S BIG NIGHT SINKS METS... AGAIN.

Whatever it is, the Mets just can’t seem to beat the Braves this season. Veteran Francisco Cerveli had 3RBIs in his Braves debut and the Braves bullpen picked up a bad start by Max Freid as the Braves improved to 10-3 against the Mets this season as well as 4-1 in the past week with a 9-5 win on Saturday (8/24) at a raucous Citi Field.

Francisco Cerveli made his presence known early in this one, as he drove home 2 runs with a double off of Zach Wheeler in the second to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. In the 3rd, Ozzie Albies went deep for a solo shot before Josh Donaldson socked a HR of his own to give the Braves a 4-0 lead.

But the Mets would rally, as a Joe Panik Fielders choice in the 3rd, a Juan Lagres RBI single in the 4th and a 3run record-tying bomb by Pete Alonso in the 4th gave the Mets a 5-4 lead after 4.

In the 6th, a Rafael Ortega RBI double and a Ronald Acuna RBI double in the 8th (That scored 2 runs because JD Davis forgot to throw the ball in) gave the Braves a 7-5 lead.

In the 9th, the HR struggles for Edwin Diaz continued as Freddie Freeman went deep to give the Braves an 8-5 lead who would add one more run on a Cerveli RBI double to complete a thrilling 9-5 win.

MVP: Francisco Cerveli

THOUGHTS:

Wow the Mets really can’t beat the Braves. All you can do is try to make the best of the 6 left with them this season.

Get em on Sunday.

STATS TO KNOW:

Pete Alonso now has 41HRs. That ties the Mets franchise record. One more and he breaks it!

UP NEXT:

The Mets will look to salvage the final game of this series on Sunday (8/25) when they send Steven Matz to the mound against Dallas Keuchel.

Game time is 1:10 PM.
